production of the 9N tractor commenced on June 29th 1939. Officially marketed as a "Ford tractor with the Ferguson system", although the name Ford Ferguson was widely used. It was designed to be safe, quiet and easy to operate. Ford once said "Our competition is the horse."; the 9N was intended for farmers who were not mechanically minded. This example was restored by the vendor and current owner of over 30 years and informs us that the Tractor started life on the Isle of Man. During his ownership after restoration the Tractor was used for Vintage Shows and Ploughing Matches. The Tractor was altered while on the Isle of Man to allow the bonnet including the fuel tank to tip open and facilitate ease of maintenance, something which the current owner has restricted for safety reasons. The Tractor was repainted during 2016/17 and has had a genuine USA conversion from 6 volt to 12 volt alternator charging system.
