I bought this car as a fabulously original unrestored example 15 years ago from it's fifth owner, still wearing it's original paintwork. The car was used more or less daily during that summer and then taken off the road for winter and stored in my workshop.
I then started to carry out some careful restoration work, cutting out all rusted metal and welding in repair panels including fitting new genuine outer sills. The car is now not far from being completely rust free, just requiring some work to the doors and the rear lower quarters, it still has all its seams in the right places too.
The engine and gearbox were in perfect running condition when removed with fully functioning overdrive, the cylinder head has been converted for unleaded fuel and steel timing gears have been fitted.
I should mention that I have been restoring classic Saabs professionally for 30 years now and have built an envious reputation for the quality of my work, this work commitment has meant that the 1800 hasn't been finished.
A fantastic project with pretty much all the hard work having been done and to a very high standard, this car will make a truly superb example with considerable value when finished.
