For sale from a company with over 20 years experience of restoring, servicing and maintaining classic aircooled VW’s
Originally built in the Hanover factory in Germany as a delivery/panel van and shipped over to California.
There it was converted into one of the periods most popular American conversions the EZ ( easy) Camper .
The EZ camper company built many conversions based on the VW split bus body , and they depict the American style of that era which is also reflected in the restoration of Ruby .
The van came to us over 10 years ago and we were commissioned to carry out a full restoration with no expense spared and without any corners being cut .
It required very little metal work as it was an extremely solid dry state bus .
This made our job much easier when it came to getting the body straight and painting it in the house of color 3 stage candy red and cream middle .
It had over 20 litres of paint and well over 500 hours of prepping flatting and polishing to achieve this amazing finish.
The interior has undergone a full custom and one off make over , and again is done in the style of the 50/60s America .This includes a rock and roll bed , interior storage cabinets , large seating area , split charge leisure battery system and 240 hook up and hidden CD stereo system .Again no expense was spared and the cab was also reupholstered to match with a full carpet set added keeping things nice and cosy.
Every nut bolt and screw were replaced , it’s fitted with a narrowed front axle dropped spindles and a gearbox straight axle conversion allowing for better cruising on the motorway. The engine is a very healthy 1776cc twin port with twin Weber carbs and a full tuck away custom built stainless exhaust , this sounds great and pushes the van along happily and is more than capable of keeping up with modern traffic.
Although lowered its been done properly and still drives very well without any nasty bangs or crashes .
Disc brakes and a steering rack conversion help to keep this van in a straight line and a pleasure to drive ,considering it’s over 50 years old .
Stainless bumpers and over riders .
In summary this is a very special uniquely different bus and if it was built to this standard today would cost in excess of £100,000.
Offers around £50,000
The vehicle is amazing and needs to be seen to realise how good it is, their aren’t many out there that are genuinely this good .
I have many more pictures and videos on file of this van if you would like more information please drop me line .
Vehicle comes with full MOT and full service and thorough check over
