A Rover P6 3500 convertible with auto gearbox in good condition that is regrettably for sale. It is a very popular vehicle where ever it goes as it is so rare to find a P6 that has been converted to such a high standard. It is a true example of excellent engineering and a credit to its previous long term owner, Stephen James, from whom we bought the car in 2015. Stephen carried out the full restoration and conversion in his workshop and finished the car in 1999. The car then travelled much of Europe as he entered the car successfully in the MSA Euroclassic Series every year from 1999 to 2013. In between, the car regularly appeared as an exhibit at the NEC Classic Car Show. It was at its last appearance in 2012.
Despite the low mileage during our ownership, the car has been kept under cover, regularly cleaned, maintained and serviced regardless. We get so much pleasure from just looking at, and looking after, such a wonderful car. It has an MoT until June 2019 and passed the last test with no advisories. The large history file has all MoT test certificates since 1992 and invoices for work carried out with parts purchased back to 1993.
The car has a purpose built hood frame and the hood itself is tailor made to fit from a good quality duck weave. The interior black leather seats came from a Volvo and are in excellent condition. The rear seats are very accessible thanks to the front seat backs that tip and swivel slightly. There are seat belts fitted front and rear. The chrome is in good condition, the paint work polishes up well, there are a few age related blemishes and signs of surface corrosion in a few areas, namely the rear wings, door bottoms and front lower wings. These have been present since we bought the car and have got no worse, but bearing in mind the body restoration was carried out 19 years ago there is likely to be some light repair work due in the coming years. Structurally though, the car is sound. Mechanically the car holds no surprises with a strong engine, power steering, good gearbox, stainless steel exhaust and five good tyres. The only thing that does not work is the clock.
Additions fitted include the Toad A51S car alarm and immobiliser, a facet electric fuel pump, Kenlowe electric fan and a Pioneer radio/cassette. The car comes with a detailed history file and a photo album documenting the restoration and the subsequent years competing in the Euroclassic Series.
