A very original and unmolested example of this popular AMC model with correct numbers throughout and buff log book ( plus current V5 )
The machine is an easy starter , reliable and fully functioning through out including lights and correct altette horn.
The Engine is free revving , smokeless and mechanically perfect
Paintwork is good and appears to be the original AMC enamel, although now with a slight patina through age and use
Chrome and bright work is fair but with some deterioration to the rear rim and jam pots . Both wheels have black centres with silver coach lines
The Matchless has been in regular use by the current owner and has covered about 1000 miles in the last twelve months without problems. It is ready for immediate and regular use.
Being of late 1953 construction the machine has the 1954 "cake Tin" front hub , this was fitted to only a few Matchless/AJS models for that year
Whilst not being a concourse example , this machine has originality and charm through out .The recorded mileage is very low suggesting a replacement speedo in the past , however MOT records confirm this bike has covered less than 4000 miles in the last thirty five years
The Vendor is seeking to reduce an extensive collection of British and Italian motorcycles. A reluctant sale
