If you like driving for pleasure rather than business you will simply love the Triumph TR6. We all know it is a 2 seater but it has been known for families to drive quite long distance with the hood up and the little ones perched in the back on cushions but truth be told buy a TR6 as a 2 seater and you will not be dissappointed. It is not a daily driver but a high day and holiday sports car that is great fun to drive with the hood down and asks to be driven.
The very honest TR6 we offer here was owned for 19 years by the last owner and indeed has only had 2 owners in the last 29 years. By honest I refer to the fact that car is surprisingly original and has never been restored, although it was repainted in the late 90s. Although we do not warrant the mileage of 74,000, there is enough paperwork to back this reading up. Whilst in the custody of the last owner (a retired engineer) the TR was kept in a heated garage and never used in the wet or the winter months. The engine is very strong and runs with excellent oil pressure with no smoke even on initial start up or after prolonged tick over. The cylinder head has been rebuilt with hardened valve seats, new valves, springs and guides. The fuel injection system has been replaced using a Bosch pump and filter. The fuel injector distribution unit has been replaced with a new lead free unit, as have the injectors themselves. There is evidence in the history file that the overdrive and clutch have been overhauled. The differential has been replaced with a remanufactured 'Fitchett' unit, as have several universal couplings as and when needed. The hood is in very good condition with no tears or cracks to the clear panels. the car also has a new tonneau cover and an originla hod bag. there is also a seperate hard top with the car which needs attention. The car rides on painted wire wheels all round with eared knock on spinners and nearly new tyres.
The history file contains a Britsh Motor Heritage certificate. MOTs going back to 1983. Old tax discs. HPI report print out and a thick pile of invoices.
A quick trawl though Classic car websites will show that the average asking price for a TR6 is about £21000. Therefore we think we have pitched the price of this car at a very fair £17995.
