This handsome Mercedes roadster was the range topper in 1984, priced at well over £40,000 the 500SL was, and still is, a rare sight. It was supplied new to Walsham Brothers Ltd, London in Feb 1984, they retained ownership until November 1985 when it was sold to The Associated Clothing Company. They sold the car to a Mr Hosh in January 1993 for the sum of £15,000. He retained ownership until January 2001 when it was sold to a Mr Wilson. From 2005 until now the car then passed through 2 more owners bringing the total to 6. Finished in 735 – astral silver with 212 - Navy leather this classic colour scheme really shows well on the car. The vin plate shows the car to be fitted with the following options;
440 – TEMPOMAT (CRUISE CONTROL)
320 – ADDITIONAL PLATE FOR R107
470 – ANTI-LOCK BRAKING SYSTEM (ABS)
870 – ELECTRIC SEAT HEATER FOR LEFT FRONT SEAT
871 – ELECTRIC SEAT HEATER FOR RIGHT FRONT SEAT
505 – OUTSIDE REAR VIEW MIRROR, LEFT, ELECTRICALLY ADJUSTABLE
592 – GREEN HEAT-INSULATING GLASS ALL ROUND
603 – HEADLAMP WIPER UNIT
On the whole the car appears very original. We have inspected the bulkhead ( a known weak point) and found it to be in sound condition. The interior and body are in good but un-restored condition. MOT history shows the car has covered just 5,000 miles since 2005 but has been MOT'd and used regularly. The car has a very good service record with history stamped in the book at the following mileages;
20k, 24k, 28k, 35k, 39k, 42k, 45k, 49k, 52k, 59k, 65k, 74k, 77k, 79k, 82k, 86k. All of these were at Mercedes Main dealers.
This car represents an excellent investment opportunity, it drives very with with superb brakes, engine and gearbox. There are very few 500SL's on the market for under £25,000. This car with just 96,000 miles from new is a rare find and is ready to use any enjoy.
