Series 2 v8 manual. Zircon Blue.
Originally a 2600s auto converted at some point in the early 90ís and only 3 owners from new.
Total mileage approx. 125k but mechanically overhauled in 2014 including:
Re-built 3.5 engine with 9.75:1 pistons, gas flowed heads, new cam and followers, replacement rings, big end bearings, re-built oil pump, new timing chain and gear, replacement gaskets and seals. Always run on Morris 15w50 Golden Film rich in zddp. New upgraded alternator and Mallory dual point distributor converted to electronic ignition via a Pertronix kit. Twin SUís with manual choke.
New clutch, master and slave cylinder.
Re-built gearbox and re-bushed remote with anti dust cap/securing tab in place and no gearstick rattle. Gear Oil has been changed after 1k, presently running Difflock Evolution.
Re-built rear axle (3.08:1) New bearings and seals and good 2nd hand thrust washers sourced. EP90 changed after 1k. New Prop shaft.
Rear suspension (standard ride height) overhauled with Australian King springs and Bilstein shocks, no silly bouncing nor is the ride rock hard. Trailing arm and watts linkage bushes all replaced.
New standard 4 pot callipers and upgraded ECB grooved discs and Greenstuff pads.
All new stainless steel non sport exhaust (bar manifolds).
Vitesse wheels (2 new) and virtually new Michelin tyres.
Modern radio and steering wheel fitted. Originals are with the car and some other minor spares.
Professionally undersealed/rustproofed by before-n-after in Warwick. Cosmetically the car is average - rust to all 4 doors, wheel arch lips and bonnet leading edge. Scuttle good bar minor corrosion in middle. Some amateur rattle can work and various scratches in paint work. Unsightly use of zinc primer in engine bay. Good Bounty Blue velour interior but headlining sags, tightens in warmer weather. Rev counter doesnít work (used to) and a spare is included. Fuel transducer also included should anyone wish to fit and have a working trip computer. Sunroof has never been tried or used during my ownership, assume it doesnít work.
Car has been in very regular use up until 2017, in fact I covered over 13,000 trouble free miles in an 18 month period and averaged 25mpg. MOT until March 2019 and no advisories whatsoever in last 5 years except a worn tyre.
This is a good opportunity to acquire a mechanically well sorted and solid SD1 which requires cosmetic body work but is perfectly useable in all weathers as is. Too many other SD1ís means this one, reluctantly, is available for sale.
Car is located nr Abingdon, Oxon and serious buyers will be able to inspect the car on a spacious private driveway.
39000 miles registered on speedo . unable to verify REFURBISHED WHEELS AND NEW TYRES. SERVICED, NEW TIMING BELT AND FUEL PUMP.
HAS HAD 3 SMALL PROFESSIONAL WELD REPAIRS BUT OTHER THAN THAT VERY SOLID.
NEEDS SOME BODYWORK ATTENTION, BUT A VERY PRESENTABLE USEABLE CLASSIC.
