We are proud to offer this early, matching number, example of these fantastic little light-weight bikes. This 3½ ‘Strada’ machine is a rare UK market bike that was supplied new in Birmingham and first registered on the 27th of March 1975. After two years of ownership it was sold in 1977 to Mr Albert Ward who was a collector of motorcars and motorcycles through a dealer on the A5 in Tamworth.
Mr Ward kept the Morini in a heated garage and he maintained it regularly, however, he never used the bike and did not tax it for the road. During his ownership the rear cans became slightly pitted and being a stickler for condition he exchanged them for new ones. He kept the bike for 35 years in this state eventually selling it 2012 to the current owner who like Mr Ward, kept the machine in exemplary fashion but did not ride it. It now still retains its original first year tax disc in the holder and the bike has amazingly only covered a total 2,500 miles and that is guaranteed genuine. According to the manufacturer the engine required 3000Kms to be fully ‘run in’ so this bike is only just there!
All the paintwork is completely original as are the badges and transfers. It retains it original wire wheels and twin leading shoe drum brake that you only find on the early models and it even has its original Pirelli tyres! The seat is the lovely black diamond pattern and the condition of the whole machine is just fantastic. The history file is equally as nice with a current V5C, lots of invoices, an owners manual and a workshop manual.
The bike has just had a gentle recommission prior to sale including a fresh cam-belt, new oil and spark-plugs.
This lovely Moto Morini starts and rides beautifully and is ready to be either used or kept in the time warp condition it is in.
