Triumph Spitfire Mk4 1300 (1973 - L reg) For Sale

Advertised on behalf of my father….

Triumph Spitfire Mk4 1300 in excellent, original condition (1973 – L reg) Has been dry stored for 32 years, since 1986.

First Registered in Feb 1973 and bought by my father in Nov 1976 with approx. 11K miles on the clock. He is the 3rd owner, however the 2nd owner of the car was the car trader who was his respected brother-in-law and director of the company who sold it to him.

The car was purchased as a weekend/ run around car and was always garaged. It was last used in 1986 and has remained stationary in the garage until last year when it was decided to put it back on the road. The car has now done nearly 33K miles from new. It has just had a light restoration to the mechanicals, e. g. engine, brakes, clutch, fuel system and exhaust and now drives and stops as it should. The bodywork is in very good, rust free, original condition which is amazing considering it is 45 years old. It was wax oiled from new and I think this has certainly helped to preserve it.

Parts replaced / serviced include: Brake master cylinder – removed, cleaned, inspected and new seals fitted. Front brake callipers – removed, cleaned, inspected, new pistons, seals, pads & flexible hoses. Rear brakes – Slave cylinders removed, cleaned, inspected, new seals & shoes. Clutch master & slave cylinders – removed, cleaned, inspected & new seals. All hydraulic lines purged & refreshed with DOT 4 fluid. Engine serviced – Historic car 20W50 oil, oil & air filters, plugs, points, tappets adjusted, new antifreeze (had been stored drained since 1986). Carburettors - stripped, cleaned, new fuel needle valves, new rubber fuel lines, balanced and tuned. New Rear exhaust box, new battery and New tyres. All receipts for the above are available.

The car is now registered as a historic vehicle and is tax & MOT exempt. It was insured in May this year for the first time since 1986 with a recommended replacement value of £8500 with the insurers and has been taken out a few times in the summer months. However my father has since had a knee replacement and at 88yrs finds it difficult to get in/ out of the car, hence the sale.

Priced at £8500 but offers considered.
