The MG Magnette was designed by the renowned Gerald Palmer of Riley and Jowett fame. The Magnette was the first monocoque car to bear the MG insignia. Launched in 1953, the ZA was powered by the new 4 cylinder 1489 cc B series engine with twin SU carburettors producing 60 bhp. The ZB came out in 1956 with bigger carburettors,higher compression ratio and a revised manifold which boosted power to 64 bhp and increased top speed to 86 mph.
This particular Magnette was first registered in Surrey on the 20th of September 1956. According to the V5C, the car has had just 3 owners from new and was owned by the last owner for the last 5 years. In 2016 the car was treated to a major restoration recorded by invoices and photographs, all on file. The restoration included some bodywork repair, which included new inner and outer sills and 2 new floor panels. Also included in the restoration were new core plugs,fuel pump,wiring loom, headlamps,alternator conversion, electronic ignition, carbs rebuilt, brake system overhauled,new front springs new shock absorbers, new wheel bearings, new windscreen and headlining.
