Welcome to the Sale for my lovely Vauxhall Viva. Perhaps the most unique original viva in the country?
The Car is the rare 1300 GLS version (just 20 left on the road) which was only produced for the final two years of Viva production between '77-'79 and as such carries a number of distinguishing features the most notable being the four-headlight 'Magnum' front end, previously only used on the bigger engined cars.
We bought the car in 2009 from the second owner who was using it daily with 40,000 miles on the clock. He informed us he had bought it off the original keeper in 2002 with just 12,000 miles on it!
The first owner seem to have had a taste for the finer things in life as this already top of the range Viva was fitted with every period luxury money could buy. Electric windows, electric aerial (now removed). full slide-back sunroof and beautiful navy-blue vinyl roof, all fitted from new. The fetching, two-tone blue-over-white colour way and the full sunroof sets this one apart from every other Viva I have seen over the years.
Our use of the car has been limited to summer time and sunny days only and the clock now shows a shade over 45,000.
We took it off the road for restoration work a couple of years ago and it now looks fantastic and drives like new. All necessary welding has been carried out and the car has been fully waxoiled and undersealed underneath. The engine was also fully rebuilt with new bearings, rings etc. and now starts and runs perfectly. We had to press it into daily-commute service for a week over the summer due an MOT fail on our other car and it completed the 45 minute each way journey faultlessly averaging nearly 40MPG! We also have a history file going back to 1980.
The bad points are the boot and the bonnet could use a re-spray as the paint seems to have gone a bit flaky and the bonnet has a bit of a chip in the paint too.
Its been a great car to own, it costs peanuts to run, it's now MOT and tax exempt so just add petrol. It gets loads of comments and there's nothing like pushing back that sunroof! But after nearly ten years of ownership it feels like time for change. Maybe something a bit more modern and a bit more sporty. Would swap for the right Mk1 MR2 in Mica blue or Audi B2 Coupe.
Message me with any questions you have, thanks for looking!
