1934 Lagonda Rapier Monoposto Special with 2.0 lire AC engin SOLD

1934 Lagonda Rapier Monoposto Special with 2. 0 lire AC engine.

Chassis number: D10841

Registration number. BPH492

A well known & beautifully constructed Lagonda Rapier Racing special. This car known as the James Crocker car has a potent period 2. 0 Litre engine fitted which predates the 1934 Lagonda Rapier Chassis. The car has been extensively campaigned in VCC class 15 racing events.

Under recent ownership the engine has been comprehensively rebuilt, the internal components being polished & blueprinted by Swiss Specialist W. Markwalder of Historic cars in Eggenwil, Switzerland. Putting out a dyno tested over 100 BHP this is a light & rapid car to drive. It comes with VCC racking papers & also swiss papers. The engine breathes through a triple carb' set up exiting via a six branch exhaust.

The real beauty of this car is that it can be both raced & driven on the road. The cycle style wings easily unbolt for track use & can be quicly put back on for road use. The car comes with its own custom Aluminium trailer at an additional £2200 & also a fully kitted out 2007 Mercedes Sprinter Motorhome (Plate not included) at £29, 000 making this a turn key racing setup.

The Rapier is finished in dark blue with a black leather monoposto seat. It is quite spacious & easy to drive. A useful cubby hole is located behind the drivers seat allowing for stowage of a soft bag with overnight essentials. The body is of aluminim panels formed over a tubular section frame & was put together about 40 years ago. It is a delicate beetle back design reminiscent of a Bugatti type 35.

Driving it is a visceral experience with quick gear changes & light handling. The exhaust is mildy baffled making long journeys very tolerable from a noise standpoint. The car would be well suited to hill climbs, VCC racing or simply being kept as a fast vintage road car for sunny sunday morning outings.
