We are pleased to offer this absolutely superb Sunbeam Talbot 90 Drophead Coupe.

We owned this car 2 years ago, and sold it to one of our regular clients who has his own collection. We have now sold him another vehicle, and were delighted to take this car back in exchange.

The car was the subject of a £50,000 plus body off restoration and is in beautiful order – you will not find another in this condition.

Coachbuilders Thrupp and Maberly were engaged by Rootes to finish the bodies of the Dropheads and the result was the most elegant vehicle you see here. The hood can be opened halfway in the Coupe de Ville position as well as fully reclined to make an open tourer with the benefit of proper wind up windows.

A desirable Mk II version with coil sprung independent front suspension and larger 2267cc engine, the Sunbeam now boasts a Hillman Hunter gearbox with floor mounted change and overdrive - a very sensible modification.

Countless hours were spent on the body getting the door shuts correct and making all the rubber trim items which are not generally available. The car was then painted metallic blue which suits it extremely well and complements the original satin bronze dashboard.

The interior was re-trimmed in biscuit leather by a retired Rolls Royce trimmer. There is matching Wilton carpet and the trimming has been finished off with a black mohair hood; all of the best quality making the interior feel quite luxurious.

All of the chromework has been re-plated or replaced and so is in excellent condition.

The engine is absolutely ‘on the button’, starting easily and feeling eager – these cars enjoyed quite a sporting reputation back in the day with the Alpine and saloon variants enjoying much success in long distance rallies.

The clutch has a sweet action and the gearbox is a delight to use. The wheels are shod with radial tyres and seat belts are fitted front and rear.

This rare and immaculate Sunbeam is well known to the owners club and has only had 5 previously known owners. According to the Club records ,1st owner from 1952 to 1968,2. Richard S Bailey from 1968 to 1975 who was also a member of our Club from 1970 to 1975 and who described himself as "second owner from new",3. Robert Fletcher from 1975 to 1989 who was also a Club member from from 1987 to 1989.4. David Clarke from 1989 to 2018 who was also a Club member from 1986 to 2014 & lastly no .5. John Kimber a current member who joined the Club in 2019.

The car also comes with a record of the restoration stored on four cds, Owner’s Handbook, complete workshop manual, parts book and Sunbeam Talbot Alpine Register Technical Tips folder.

This is an unique opportunity and one not to be missed.

As always, we would be happy to take another classic vehicle in part exchange, and can offer delivery & Finance ,if required

Please contact Andrew or email via our website

We appreciate that since the Coronovirus pandemic,it may now be difficult to come and view our cars, so we would be happy to offer a walk round video for all our stock, if required.

I am lucky that I live and work in the same place , so I have full access to our vehicles. I will happliy provide an honest description for our cars, and we can still arrange delivery at the moment. I've been in the motor trade for over 30 years, and feel like i'm fully qualified to provide an honest and accurate accessment, plus we only deal in quality vehicles here.

We have also been paranoid about cleanliness here, to the humour of others at times , and every car, key set , door handle, switch, know etc etc is thoroughly wiped.

Thank you for reading, and stay safe...
