This genuine Triumph TR5 Pi is one of only 1161 examples built by Triumph in 1968 and it combined the pretty TR4 body with the lusty 150bhp 2.5 litre fuel injected six cylinder engine and with the combination of their low production numbers, it created what for many is the 'ultimate' and most desirable Triumph TR ever built.
This stunning example - Chassis No: CP610-O is an original UK RHD 'matching numbers' car as confirmed by its British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate and it was built on 5th January 1968. It was despatched on 27th February 1968 to Triumph dealer Whites Garages Limited of Grimsby and the copy of the original Buff Log Book shows that it was first registered on 1st March 1968 to a Mr John Worthington of Salford, Lancashire.
The car had a further 3 owners with the 4th owner buying the car in May 1978 and after keeping it for 34 years we sold it for him to the current owner in November 2012.
The car has undergone significant restoration in the last 10 years and it is finished in its original colour scheme of Jasmine Yellow with Black Leather Sports Seats piped in White, Black carpets, Black Vinyl hood, original Steering Wheel, original walnut dashboard, original 2.5 Litre Fi Engine, original 4 Speed Manual Gearbox with Overdrive on 2nd, 3rd & 4th gears, Sports Exhaust System with Extractor Manifold, balanced and lightened Flywheel and Chrome Wire Wheels with Toyo 330 Tyres.
In 2013/14 the car had a photographed body restoration and complete repaint in Jasmine Yellow, a completely new Braking System including Brake Discs and pads, Brake Shoes and wheel cylinders on the rear, new Master Cylinder and Brake Servo, new interior/carpets with Moss Leather Sports Seats, new Black vinyl Soft top, overhauled Fuel injection pump and injectors, a new Sports Exhaust system to match the existing extractor manifold, a competition Facet Fuel pump, 17 ACR Alternator upgrade, new Suspension including Shock Absorbers and Road Springs, new Chrome Wire Wheels and Toyo Tyres and culminating with the Gearbox and Overdrive being rebuilt by renowned 'Overdrive Repair Services' in Sheffield and the fitting a new Clutch in July 2018.
The car is in beautiful condition throughout and has only covered a 100 miles or so since it was completed earlier this year and it currently has 82,260 miles showing on the clock and there are MOT certificates from 1976 to date, but the recorded mileage was the same on many certificates until 2006 as the odometer was not working, so we do not know its true mileage. The car comes with an exceptional Service History and invoices dating back to 1973 plus every single invoice for all of the recent works carried out and many photographs of the body restoration.
It is fantastic to drive and with the upgrades carried out, it really does fly!
A great car to enjoy as well as being a good long term investment.
Priced very competitively for a quick sale!
