Welcome to the sale of this very rare early 1275GT finished in a wonderful colour Metallic Garnet. Built in 1970 and originally painted in the very rare colour Antelope which was the cars factory colour from new. Shortly after, the car was dispatched to Wood & Pickett of Park Royal NW10 who decided to strip the car back to a shell for custom work. Before the car was repainted they cut the roof ready for a full length Webasto and also the rear pockets were cut to make more room for the bigger seats. The Mini was then built to Wood & Pickett specification which included, custom dash finished in walnut, Rear pockets cut of for large seats, Full length Webasto roof, 11 stud Cooper S cylinder head, Cooper S braking system including servo and master cylinder. The Mini was then re-sold by Wood & Pickett which then went on to live in London for a number of years until it was shipped up to Newark needing light restoration. Unfortunately the Minis restoration never got under way so the car was left out side for a few years. The next owner of the Mini could see the potential and rareness of the car so purchased the Mini and started the restoration it so deserved.
The car was once again taken back to a bare shell, lightly sandblasted to reveal any horrors which amazingly there wasn't. The Mini still retains its original Front panel, Wings, Inner wings, scuttle panel, Rear floors, Quarter panels and boot floor, body numbers are still in place amazingly! The panels which were replaced are, Sills, Two door skins, front floors, rear valance, boot lid and bonnet. Once completed the underside has been primed, stone chipped then painted in body colour when the car was repainted.
Unfortunately the original sunroof had been leaking water which has since been replaced with a brand new one hand built by Peter Harvey. A new ash frame has been installed with a new sliding system and supports. The vinyl top is brand new to match the body colour which looks amazing. The headlining has been replaced with quality wool with matching sun visors. The dash has been professionally restored to a very high standard which was very pricey but the results speak for them selves! The top dash rail and bottom rail have been replaced with smooth Black leather which really finishes it all off. The leather seats where beyond economical repair hence why the car now has all brand new seat covers and door cards supplied by newton commercial at a cost of £1000 pounds. New quality wool carpets have been custom fitted which really finished the inside off, also the boot board has been trimmed to match.
Both subframes have been blasted then repainted, all brakes and suspension components have been replaced or overhauled if they could be saved. Brand new auto-sparks wiring loom has been installed which has been specially adapted for the dash. The chrome is original to the car other than the lower under-riders which have been re-chromed. Still retaining its original 5 Rostyle wheels with brand new tyres. Believed to still be running its original engine which is now (Plus 20) other work included.
Cylinder head has been converted to run on unleaded
Maniflow LCB manifold
High flow radiator
The Mini is now fully restored back to how the car should be, drives faultlessly with no problems at all.
Great opportunity to own not only a very early GT but a rare Wood & Pickett car with a lovely spec. Whoever ends up owning this car will be extremely happy for years to come.
