1970 LHD Jaguar 'E' Type Roadster For Sale

LHD Jaguar 'E' Type Roadster ANM 511H was first registered in Coventry on 13th May 1970, prior to shipment to the USA.

This stunning matching numbers car is powered by the 4. 2Ltr 6 cylinder engine, fitted with a 4-speed manual gearbox, power-steering and chrome wire wheels and is finished in Pale Primrose with Black Hood and Interior Trim.

1970 was the preferred choice of specification for the majority of Series 2 'E' Type buyers, and fifty years on, the car still draws attention as it did then. In short, if you are looking for one of the most beautiful Series 2 ‘E’ Type convertibles currently available on the market, then please look no further.

History of Ownership:
1970 – 1992: Delivered new to Abingdon Motor Cars, St Louis, Missouri and then sold to the first registered owner, who kept the car for approx. 22 years.

1992 – 2005: In early 1992, it was purchased by the second owner of Lake Quivra, Kansas. The new owner's first steps were to verify the car's authenticity through the Jaguar Daimler Trust (please see photos of documentation including Heritage Certificate) and to embark on a project to totally restore the car.

Sheldon Classic Auto Restorations of Lawrence, Kansas, were engaged to manage the restoration and, where necessary, to appoint sub-contractors to carry-out specialist work, such as the engine rebuild by Welch's Jaguar.

Sheldon Classic thoroughly documented the restoration and chronicled each procedure undertaken and the associated cost (see photos of the 35 page type written chronology prepared by Sheldon Classic of Lawrence, Kansas).
The restoration project lasted over two years concluding in 1994 at a cost totalling more than US$38000! It really was a 'money is no object' restoration and became the owners 'pride and joy' for almost ten years until his untimely death in 2005.

2005 – 2008: The restored car was purchased from the deceased’s estate by the third owner, a noted preservationist of historic homes and an avid collector of Classic Cars from Independence, Missouri. After 18 months showing the car at collector car events and making some upgrades to the vehicle, he then sold it to the fourth owner in October 2006 who, in turn, kept it for a further 18 months before selling it in 2008.

2008 – 2018: After seemingly having spent the majority of this period dry stored safely in Kansas USA, this wonderful car was purchased earlier this year from the deceased sixth owner’s estate and repatriated to the UK before undergoing all necessary U. K. homologation and registrations.

On inspecting the car today you get the impression it must have been well garaged and had very little use since its 1992-4 restoration. The paint-work has retained its shine and the chromed wheels, bumpers and other plated fittings gleam like they were new. Likewise the leather seats, carpets and interior trim are in remarkable condition. In all, if you didn't know the model or car age of the car, you could believe it was less than ten years old.
The car was issued with a Heritage Certificate in 1992 and has a valid M. O. T Test Certificate until August 2019.

As the previous owner is deceased, the mileage cannot be verified, but the condition of the car is commensurate with the speedometer reading of 86. 000 miles. Included with the car are a Factory Workshop Manual, complete and unused toolkit, original jack and a 35 page chronology, supported by photographs and prepared by Sheldon Classic, outlining in detail the restoration work carried out and the associated costs.

As it stands this 60’s classic with full matching numbers is in stunning condition, starts on the button and offers a comfortable and classic driving experience..
The asking price is £85, 000
