Tax and MOT Exempt. Petrol 2500cc. 750 Tyres. Reconditioned Gearbox.
Here we have for sale a very smart looking Series 2a. Being manufactured in 1969, this is a genuine and reasonably rare crossover model – which means it has the correct Series 2a dash, but enjoys headlights in the wings and a maltese grill.
Externally, the bodywork and paintwork are unusually good for a vehicle of this type. There are a full set of colour coded modular wheels, with 750 tyres giving a pleasing stance. There are many correct period features such as lamp guards, rear grab handles, galvanised bumper, vintage plates and period mudflaps. Large Defender-style mirrors are fitted for additional safety and visibility. There is a working rear spot lamp, which is useful for reversing or for those dark evenings when removing stuff from the rear of the vehicle. There is a towbar fitted should this vehicle be required to do some towing work.
On the inside, in the front there are three deluxe seats with seat belts fitted – The front of the vehicle also benefits from deluxe front matting. The rest of the dash is pleasingly standard, with the correct steering wheel and vents in place - there is also a Smith's square heather, which is two speed and works very well - heating up the cab on the coldest of days. The rear houses the spare with bench style seating c/w seat belts.
Out on the road this vehicle has a whisper quiet petrol engine, and the driving experience is improved by the larger rubber, which extends the gearing ratios and gives better on-road and off-road capability. This makes the most of the slightly higher capacity 2500cc engine - identical in look to the 2286cc but has more power and was fitted to early 90s.
In summary, if you are looking for a smart hard top Series 2a which is both pleasing to look at and good to drive, then this could be for you. The low running costs due to tax exemption and classic insurance mean that this will be a pleasure to own - and with MOT exemption, it should prove a sound and hassle-free investment for the future too.
