Well what can you say when it comes to luxury in the small classic car market the Vanden Plas 1300 Princess has to be up there as one of the very best.
Dubbed the Mini Rolls Royce, the moment you opened the door and was greeted by those plush leather seats and walnut dash it transformed you into another world- and the hydrolastic suspension allowed you to glide over the road in the most relaxed and effortless fashion.
This is a really top notch example that has clearly lead a very sheltered life from day one. UK registered from new, she did find her way to Germany a few years ago where in the hands of a real classic car enthusiastic it received a very careful and thorough refurbish both here in the UK with additional work done in Germany. I have to be honest and say that I have found there standards to be of the very highest and indeed are certainly reflected in this fine example.
The finish of the coachwork is probably better than when the car was new, and shows no signs of deterioration even though it was done some years ago. The front wings and sills were the usual rust spots but these were all replaced before the above and have been wax protected to prevent any further problems. The underside of the car again perfect showing a well maintained car, nice clean black rust free subframes with all suspension working perfectly.
The navy leather interior on this car is all original and truly in amazing condition. There's no signs of wear on the drivers seat bolster or the pull shut handles, leather retains that nice supple feel with no heavy sag look and the original carpets and headlining are spot on. Walnut dash and door cappings well preserved with all instrumentation working as expected. The chrome on this car is in quite remarkable condition again all original, but if one wanted to be very picky there is a small little dent in the rear overrider hardly worth mentioning on what is such a splendid outstanding example.
These are very lively little cars with there twin su carburetors- and this one is no exception. You've got servo brakes with discs on the front so she stops well when needed, and is fitted with a push button Becker radio and electric aerial. First registered 1972 L reg, has been well serviced with recent new battery fitted. Easy starter with light clutch and gears, comes complete with V5c various receipts history folder and owners books, and if your at home wondering is it as nice in the flesh as the photos "the answer is yes it is?
