1913 Owned by the one family for its first 102 years For Sale
This Peugeot Bébé was purchased in New York City in 1913 by the President of the prestigious W & J Sloane department store New York. It was then driven to "Wyndhurst" a 34 room Cottage in Lenox, Massachusetts, a not inconsiderable trip of about 300Km on roads that would have been no better than goat tracks at the time. . The Bébé was used as a runabout within the immediate surrounds of the estate.
“Wyndhurst” was sold in 1924 and the Bébé was moved to Connecticut, where it was used to teach young family members to drive and became a regular highlight of 4th July parades. The car was purchased in 2015 from the third generation of the family.
The car is in good running order, over its long life it has picked up a few modifications such as a T model steering wheel (an original wheel is supplied with the car), hood bows and the windscreen (already missing in the 1916 photo) is of unknown origin.
The Bébé was designed by Ettore Bugatti who licenced the building of it to Peugeot.
Old photo is of this car in 1916
