Due to a change of plans my 318 Touring is now available. It's a '98 build in rare hell red with silver grey cloth. It is automatic with air conditioning. The car is straight and tidy and unusually all one colour ! I am a mechanic and bought it with a short MOT knowing it needed a bit of TLC, but also well aware that it had been very well maintained and did not suffer from many of the usual E36 ailments .
I done a pre MOT check and made a couple of holes in the sills as well as noting it needed a pair of rear tyres and the handbrake tightening up. The car was then put in storage waiting for me to get around to it. Well six months later and I still have not touched it ,so along with some others,it's time to go.
The car drives very well. In the ten + years I have known the car it has had a cylinder head overhaul and all new plastic housings/ water pump / radiator / belts / front ball joints / wishbone bushes / and lots more. It drives really well , straight and smooth. No rattles, no clunks, no bangs. Everything works on the car with the exception of the the radio (factory fitted with working boot mounted CD changer) LCD display being a bit erratic when it's cold and the A/C system being low on gas. Climate control works perfectly as do all the dash instruments and there are no unwanted warning lights.
Bodywise it it is very straight and tidy. Apart from the aforementioned two areas on the sills that need attention (inner sills and floors are fine) There is some localised corrosion, chiefly the rear tailgate around the handle and the drivers front wing on the arch lip and at the base.
The interior is dry and clean but both front seats are tatty and the door panel cloth inserts baggy. The seats are mechanically good and are comfortable . I have fitted a pair of mechanics covers to tidy it up.
This would make an ideal runaround for somebody seeking a tidy practical retro estate car, or maybe a good basis for an engine swap.
The car is obviously not MOT'd or taxed but I would drive it anywhere with trade plates. I have a contact who could deliver the car for a reasonable price if needed. The car is located just west of London near Uxbridge. 5 minutes from the M25 jn 16 where it crosses the M40
