Hi.. thanks for checking out my Lotus XI (recreation)
A lot of time and effort was put into this vehicle over the course of approximately 4 years. The chassis is constructed per the Series 2 design with the aluminium panelling professionally formed by a craftsman specialising in classic Lotus vehicles of this period.
The front and rear coil-over shocks are AVO and are adjustable for height and pressure settings. The rear design comprises a de-dion solid axle with a new 3J LSD, 3.9 crown gear and uprated half shafts. Everything inside the axle including the brakes are all new.
The lightweight front and rear body clams are very high quality fibreglass, complemented with aluminium doors and scuttle. The screens and headlight covers were made by White Ellerton who made the original parts for Lotus.
The engine is a fully reconditioned BMC 1275 A-Series with ported and polished head, fast road cam, and 1.3 roller rockers. Delivering the go juice is a Weber 40 carb, and this along with the timing was tuned on a rolling road.
Engine cooling is very efficient and is delivered through an aluminium radiator with an electric fan and correct header tank.
The 4 speed transmission is a BMC rib-case with the internals fully reconditioned, including a new clutch kit, slave cylinder, and for a smoother pedal and efficient clutch engagement a roller release bearing replaces the standard carbon part.
This is a cracking little car that weighs only 475kg and would be great for hill climbs, sprints, general track use, or simply blasting a long an empty B road.
The car attracts a lot of attention wherever it's driven and is realistically priced considering how much time and effort has gone into it.
UK registered and road legal.
