1985 Ford Capri 2.0 Laser Manual - Full History - 39k For Sale
For sale is my 85' Ford Capri. She's a 2.0 Laser coupled with a Manual transmission. I spent some time looking for a Capri in this condition as it was a gift for my father. Sadly he hardly drives it and says he'd prefer a modern car which is more comfortable so unfortunately, besides me taking her for a drive once a week, she hardly gets any use. The pictures speak for themselves as to the condition of the car but I will list the bad bits below.
The car is in very good condition for its age. Being 33 years old there are some surface scratches and spots of paint that could do with touch up. There is hardly any rust all round.
The interior is in good condition, I've highlighted the bad parts in pictures but I'll mention them again: drivers side front and back seats have some wear, the dashboard is cracked, rear boot trim is broken. I'd stress these are the bad points and other than this the car is in very good condition. The cassette doesn't work although radio does, so the rubber belt needs replacing. Rev counter doesn't work, suspect it's an issue with the wire to the coil, common issue.
I drive the car most weekends, holds oil and water pressure as she should. Recently did a 100 mile trip to a wedding and again, no issues. I've just had it serviced along with the front pads and disks.
The car was in the previous owners family since 2003, it changed owners within the family 3 times and as such, she currently has 5 previous owners. I have the following paperwork:
Original Ford service book:
Mileage - Date
1.002 - 11/2/86
2,032 - 10/11/86
2,739 - 28/5/87
3,783 - 28/01/88
5,286 - 13/02/89
No mileage, just stamp - 25/07/89
7,202 - 11/07/90
8,731 - 22/7/91
9,898 - 22/7/92
10,442 - 05/01/93
11,250 - 20/07/93
12,253 - 20/07/97
12,666 - 17/11/1997
13,355 - 15/05/01
15,628 - 12/02/03
I'd say the following things would probably need doing in addition to the above to bring the car to near-showroom condition:
New sunroof seal - although the current one is water tight, this would be purely for aesthetics, I already have a new seal that will come with the car.
New side laser-decals - again purely for aesthetics, new ones come with the car.
I would not be selling her if I had storage given the condition and mileage she'd be the perfect investment. But living in London and having to pay for permits etc. in addition to daily cars means I have to let her go. I've endeavoured to list all the bad bits but most of them would be to bring the car to showroom condition, she has to be seen to be appreciated.
If you have any questions or would like any more information or pictures feel free to get in touch.
