This bike has been completely refurbished and put back together using only Genuine Yamaha parts. This took me 5 years to complete. I have photos of the restoration and kept all receipts of the genuine parts. The bike even comes with the original sales brochure, manuals, service book and the Genuine Yamaha maintenance manual (very rare!) together with original purchase certificate! The bike has a fantastic folder of history and previous MOTs.
The engine has new power valves, rebored and genuine yamaha 0.25mm oversize pistons to match. The carbs have been rebuilt and set up correctly. It starts first prod of the kick starts and rides amazingly. All this cost me around 8,000 GBP. Since the restoration its covered around 30 miles. Whilst rebuilding i made a sensible upgrade to the ignition coils. I used Dynatec coils and leads for the Yamaha RD500 and not the rubbish you see advertised elsewhere, I have originals if you wish. The bike is 99.9% original Yamaha parts and I even took time to source bolts and fixings from as far as Singapore. Whilst putting the bike back together, if anything was not 100% in appearance I would source new OEM parts and replace. Once again all parts are Genuine Yamaha parts for an RD500 and to prove such I have kept all the receipts and parts bags/boxes stickers. The fairings were repainted by RacePaint Uk at a cost of 1,000 GBP.
This really is the best RD500 other at the moment for sale and the best i've seen for a long time.
