Original 1970 Morris Mini Cooper S Mk 3.
The Heritage Documentation shows it to have been manufactured in December for the home market and is one of 1572 produced in total, the lowest and rarest of all Cooper S’s built, with ony 792 made in UK right-hand drive. It has covered 85,000 miles, approx. 1,400 miles on rebuilt engine.
Finished in blue monotone the shell is original mk 3 and has been fully restored and painted to a very high standard by an award winning painter. It retains its twin bolt subframes, drip rails, boot board mounts and twin tanks. The interior has been restored to original black vinyl specification with re-trimmed front seats. The Mountney steering wheel and additional Smiths rev counter are period performance additions as is the bolt-in roll-cage (easily removed).
Mechanically, this mk3 S retains its original AEG312 1275cc engine rebuilt to 1293cc and fast road spec by Slark Brothers. Featuring a lightened, balanced and bladed crankshaft, lightened fly wheel, forged pistons, modified big valve 12G940 race head to run on unleaded fuel, straight cut drop gears and a straight cut gearbox. Breathing through twin SU HS4 carbs, billet trumpets and Maniflow competition manifold and exhaust. Suspension has been upgraded and is fully adjustable with hi-los, GAZ dampers, adjustable bottom arms and rear brackets. Brakes are refurbished Cooper S with uprated pads and wheels are refurbed minilites with new Yokohama 008's (other wheels are available).
A professionally restored example, this epic sounding rare Mini is believed to be one of only 25 1970 Morris Cooper S's remaining on the DVLA database and has history throughout its 48 years, including current MOT with no advisories.
