1952 Healey Tickford Sports Saloon -Stunning Example
The Donald Healey Motor Company was founded in 1945 in Warwick in a former aircraft components factory and was to produce high performance cars of exceptional quality.
By 1948, their Elliot Saloon, with its striking aerodynamic coachwork, had become the fastest closed car in the World, having been timed at 104.7 mph over a mile. The power unit used in almost all Healey cars was the excellent Riley 2.5 litre engine, with additional tuning. The light, box section chassis permitted soft springing allied to exceptional road holding for a car of this class.
The last saloon produced by Healey was the Tickford, of which some 222 were produced. This stylish and sleek model, with light aluminium coachwork was elegant from all angles and must surely rank as one of the best looking saloon cars of its period.
The car we offer here has been in the current ownership for the past twenty years, during which time a considerable amount of money has been lavished upon it.
It is worthy of close inspection and is sure to appeal to a connoisseur seeking a distinctive car with a difference.
There are numerous invoices on file, together with many photographs, information on the model and a Workshop Manual for both the Healey and the Riley 2.5 Litre. Further files contain a selection of technical notes from the Association of Healey Owners, many previous MOT certificates and earlier V5 Registration Documents.
A very rare opportunity to acquire a highly distinctive motor car in extremely good order.
This car was also the subject of a scale model by Oxford Diecast.
