In 1961, Ghia, recently acquired by Luigi Segre, began to develop a new small sport coupe based on the Fiat 1500. In 1962, the result was presented in Turin. The Automobil Revue commented: "As a novelty Ghia shows the Fiat 1500 GT. The Sunbeam Harrington similar looking vehicle receives with the rectangular and low-lying cooling air intake a very attacking touch."
In 1963, the final version was presented in Geneva as Fiat 1500 GT, equipped with a 67 hp engine and designed for a series production of 3.000 copies. This vehicle was probably taken by an American Air Force soldier to the US and sold to Canada in 1987. There, the little Ghia waited until 2015, where he was sold to France and lovingly restored.
