Once in a while I stumble across a rather special Land Rover.
This 110 Defender H352 HUD was ordered as a Demonstrator for Hartwell Land Rover at Cumnor near Oxford who retained it for 4 months and then sold it to a farmer from Aylesbury who kept the Land Rover 26 years! This would have been one of the early 200 Tdi Defenders and what an amazing engine they are. With the 5 speed gearbox they are a very useful vehicle.
It was only used for light duties around the arable farm and then pensioned off in 2009 when the last MOT was done and used under a limited use tax band.
New MOT until January 2020
The good news is that it was exercised on a regular basis but only did 500 miles in the last ten years!
In totally original condition throughout it was clearly not abused or battered like most Land Rovers.
The chassis has minor surface rust in places but looks like it is 3 years old. No welding has been done and none needs doing.
Chassis number is clearly visible on chassis.
The rear cross member has surface rust but is totally original and sound.
I would get the chassis waxoyled to preserve it as it is so good.
The bulkhead is the best I have ever seen ( apart from when they were new!) and is truly superb.
Paintwork has marks from use over the years and a few dinks and dents but looks very smart with the original decals in place.
The interior is in very good condition for the age with all the correct mats and trim in place, headlining in excellent condition.
Comes with the original book packs, service book and spare set of original keys.
Lots of history incl original service book which shows a speedo change at 10,007 miles in March 1994 and the speedo today reads 28,981 so 39,000 miles total from new,
Mots from 2000 up to 2008 when it was pensioned off on limited use and then a new MOT in January 2019.
It really is a timewarp and drives very well as you would expect.
The 200Tdi engine starts first turn of the key and pulls well.
The gearbox is good and the clutch is in good order.
Still has the Hartwell Land Rover stickers on the rear cab glass and the canvas tilt rear window.
Matching Avon rangemaster tyres all round.
All hoop sticks correct and the original hood is in very good condition as it was put away and not used for many years.
This will make a great workhorse for logging and use on the land and at the same time it will continue to rise in value as there are very few in this condition.
You will struggle to find another like this anywhere.
Can be viewed off Junc 14 M4 Near Hungerford Berkshire.
