Reluctant sale of my old Morris. These are superbly engineered, easy to drive, very comfortable cars with plenty of space inside. The step up in quality from the Minor has to be seen to be believed. Morris really put a lot into these cars.
I believe this is one of the best available to buy. I have maintained it myself impeccably and it is a drive away car I regularly use for long haul trips - last year we drove some 700 miles to Aberdeenshire and back.
Recent work includes a full brake overhaul, rebuilt radiator and major cooling system service, full new exhaust system, addition of discreet flashing indicators, 5 new crossply tyres and tubes, attention to the dynamo, starter motor and voltage regulator, bodywork repairs carried out to a high standard, as well as regular oil changes and greasing which is important on these old cars.
Mechanically excellent, it is a very quiet car. The side valve 1500 engine is very tough and slogs along well. It uses no oil to speak of. The 4 speed gearbox is excellent and is one of the best column-change setups around. Back axle is silent. Rack and pinion steering plus the torsion bar suspension make it a hoot to drive, and safe.
I fitted the correct heater to it which is very warm. Engine bay detailing includes the use of cloth covered H.T. leads and correct parts.
The bodywork is straight with no dents or damage and the paintwork is excellent. Chrome is excellent. There is a little bubbling to some door bottoms which I have just monitored over the years, and the lower boot valance where it meets the rear floor. Otherwise the seams and underside are like it left the factory.
The red interior is in great condition with its original carpets. And it has the all-important smell of a 1950's car.
Drive it away and enjoy it. You will be hard pushed to find a better maintained example.
