1976 Continental MkIV - Barons Sandown Pk Tuesday 26th Feb 2019 For Sale by Auction
The Lincoln Continental Mark IV carried over many design themes of the Mark III including the grille and faux spare tire trunk lid, and grew both longer and wider — sharing its platform with the Ford Thunderbird. In 1972, Lincoln introduced the small oval windows, marketed as opera windows, at the roof rear quarters. The 1973 model year featured front bumpers to comply with new US safety regulations that required all passenger cars to withstand a 5-mile-per-hour (8 km/h) front and a 2.5-mile-per-hour (4 km/h) rear impact. 1974 models featured redesigned rear bumpers under mandatory federal safety regulations. It was the heaviest series of all generations.
Mark IVs were powered by a 460 cu in (7.5 L) V8 engine.
1976 Lincoln Continental Mk IV described by the vendor as a stunning & enthusiast owned example finished in Pucci Red paint, complimented with Red Versailles Crushed Majestic Cloth Interior which was the extremely rare Versailles option in 1976 complementing exterior with interior. This, the larger capacity 7.5litre version, was formerly owned by Mark Brzezicki a rock drummer known for his work with Big Country & Ultravox amongst other bands. This 1976 example is very special among its range as it comes as the final edition of the mark IV. Everything works as it should, including the interior Cartier clock, a gorgeous designer touch. This final edition comes with some optional extras that were fitted when new such as the Crushed majestic Versailles cloth interior, Power Gold Moon roof, Dual Exhaust system, Forged aluminium wheels with expensive white wall tyres.
Impeccable condition for a 43year old classic, testament to its low mileage of just 59,000, and loving care since being imported into the UK over 12years ago by Mr Brzezicki who sort the very best he could find to join his collection at the time. A huge amount of history comes with the car, including rare workshop manuals.
A sense of luxury that you rarely find nowadays & never fails to turn heads.
