1989 Turbo R - Barons Sandown Pk Tuesday 26th February 2019 For Sale by Auction
The Bentley Turbo R is a high-performance car which was produced from 1985 to 1999. The "R" stood for "Roadholding", to set it apart from its predecessor. It initially inherited the turbo-charged engine from the Mulsanne Turbo and also sported a re-tuned suspension and wider tyres on alloy wheels, a first for a Bentley. From the 1987 model year, however, the Turbo R's V8 engine was upgraded with fuel injection for added torque. Motor Trend called the Turbo R, "the first Bentley in decades deserving of the famous name". There were 5196 SWB and 2034 LWB models built.
This impressive Crewe built Bentley is presented in the colour combination of very dark grey and grey interior. The car benefits from a high level of specification, including split level climate control air conditioning, electric seats, original stereo with CD changer, electric windows and mirrors, headlamp washers and alloy wheels. During the current owners tenure the car has completed successful trips around the UK to such places as Snowdonia and north Norfolk, as well as a number of touring rallies in Northern France.
The history folder contains receipts and MOT certificates dating back to 1999. Recent work includes a new water pump, thermostat and header tank. Rear brake pads have been changed and transmission oil filter renewed and fresh oil used. All electric window mechanisms have been refurbished to a specification higher than original. The vendor states that the heated seats and cruise control functions are not currently working on the car.
Presented to auction with a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate valid to late August 2019 with no advisories, this Bentley could offer enormous value for money
Please note that this car is a Category C Insurance loss from 2001.
