Rare 1968 Willow Green Jaguar 420G Barn Find For Sale
Well, where to start. This Jaguar is a real gem, having been dry stored since 1979, this 2 owner genuine Willow Green car has quite the story to tell.
An original Southern Ireland registered car (unheard of as most were imports) still has original Buff logbook, comes with Nova Certificate and still on Irish plates (i was trying to keep original number)
has original handbook and some paperwork + original tax disc from 1975 which were present in the car along with vintage ammunition haha, so i'm sure it has quite the story to tell if it could talk.
structurally the car is superb, very solid and does not need welding anywhere. great panel work and shut lines.
The car has undergone a light recommissioning in 2011 which i have photographs and info regarding this. Full respray in original Willow Green, new stainless exhaust system, refurbished o/s fuel tank, new tyres all around,
The car does start run and drive whilst maintaining good oil pressure, but due to being dry stored i would suggest full fluids changes, brakes checked as they are binding etc. This car has been stored for a number of years and is in no condition to drive legally so will need trailering away upon collection.
i have always wanted my own big jag, with my father having a mk10 since i can remember it was always my dream to have my own. I went through a lot to get this car and hold on to it for as long as possible, it was never bought to be sold, so it is with true sadness that i am writing this. i wish i had the time, money and workshop to get this rare old beast back to its former glory. I am only aware of 3 other willow green 420g's (very rare in this car especially) 1 which was exported to America, 1 exported to Canada and 1 in uk which is two-tone with BRG (not sure if original though)
All exterior chrome work is complete and is in fair condition with a natural patina. Interior is finished in Suade Green and hasn't been restored or touched, with a good feed will be good for many years to come, no rips or tears. all for door card leather trims are intact but rear door cards need replacing along with carpet and headlining. The original woodwork is still there and complete, as far as im aware. I also have a full lovely set of very unusual woodwork which i may include with the sale for the right price. the boot is full of spares, boot liner carpet + spare wheel is complete.
the 4.2 straight six engine, triple SU carbs with mk10 smooth rocker covers seems all there and in good condition. i fired it up when i got it for a few seconds and it was miss-firing and running on a few less cylinders, haven't even checked spark plugs or put fresh fuel in etc, these engines are fairly easy to work on though so someone with a bit of mechanical knowledge should have this up and running on all six cylinders in no time.
This car is a real beauty and very rare, would love for it to go to a proper enthusiast and given the last bit of TLC needed to get this car finished. its been hidden for 40 years and needs to be appreciated by the world!
please don't hesitate to call or message with any questions and i will do my best to answer. car is located in Blandford, Dorset. I will not entertain silly offers so please don't waste either of our time. You will not find another like this, i can assure you of that.
