1975 Beautiful Mk2 Garelli Junior Tiger Cross - Restored. For Sale
Here we are offering, a superb, fully restored Garelli Junior Tiger Cross Mk2.
The sports moped that took the fight to the Yamaha FS1E, and stood out from the crowd due to its ‘big bike’ looks and great performance credentials.
Very rare, and becoming ever more sought after, this example has been part of a large collection and is only available due to downsizing.
In the 1970’s, the Yamaha ‘Fizzy’ ruled the roost; there can be no doubt that, the Yamaha outnumbered the rest.
Suzuki AP50’s and Honda SS50’s, whilst popular could not match the ‘Fizzy’.
However, the Garelli was a real contender!
The stylish yellow and black machines turned heads just as well as the ‘Fizzy’ and compared to any of the oriental offerings the Garelli is a real superstar, the moped that looks like a bike, and very nearly goes like one too!
This was a serious machine, with a steel chassis (rather than many bikes of the period having a pressed tin monoqocue), and a top speed of around 60mph on a flat road – possibly with a touch of tail wind.
This Mk2 example you see here is a restored example throughout and would suit any collection.
Body & Paintwork:
This Garelli Tiger has been restored to a very high standard, and the yellow fuel tank, with correct Mk2 black stripe is without any damage.
The rear light housing and engine casings are also in very good condition, and are again in the correct black finish for this Mk2 model variant.
Interior & Trim:
As the pictures show, all trims are in good condition, as is the chromework.
Some very minor tarnishing in places but this is being very picky indeed.
Overall a superb example of a very rare sports moped.
Garelli’s own engine, producing a claimed 6.2bhp – which meant that in the day the Garelli was a real contender for being the fastes sports moped.
This example had a full engine rebuild only 4 miles ago, and has since been on display as part of a large collection – so would require a running in period if it is to be used.
Correct black engine casings are in place for this, the Mk2 model.
Included with the bike is the ‘fan’ cylinder head, the owner decided to have a square one fitted as that is what his bike had in the late 70’s.
The bike is currently in a display only state, but obviously just requires fuel to have it running if you so wish.
As you would expect from a bike which has had almost no use since a restoration, all running gear is in great order.
Gears select as they should do, and the brakes operate correctly.
The tyres are both in good condition and the bike wants for nothing.
