The Elan Sprint was essentially based on the Series 4 Elan and was primarily designed to rekindle demand and improve the performance of the nine-year-old sports car. Conceived by the Lotus Sales Director the Sprint's most notable feature was the horizontally-split two-tone paintwork.
A new big-valve cylinder head with high-lift cams and a raised compression ratio and Webers provided a 25% increase in power to 126bhp. The drivetrain was suitably toughened and braced and the front callipers were redesigned to cope with the increased performance.
This is a genuine home-market FHC Sprint model that was first registered in 1972 finished from new in the rare and Beautiful livery of Pistachio Green over Cirrus White.
With ongoing maintenance over the years she was extensively restored around 2003 including new chassis, engine rebuild ,unleaded conversion, Suspension, brakes, body strip and high quality repaint which is still presenting beautifully today.
All the work is documented and there is a very thorough history file mostly populated with invoices from the UK’s respected Lotus specialists, mot certificates, and thousands have been spent ensuring she is one of the best looking and driving Sprints available.
Many motoring enthusiasts claim that the Sprint is their favourite driving machine and any serious driver will agree once you sample the fluidity of the chassis the lightness of the controls and the evocative sound of the race bred twin cam.
