This is a rare opportunity to purchase a very early and historic MG it being the first model Cecil Kimber designed from scratch, earlier cars were converted Morris Cars. There are only around 30 MG 18/80 MK1s that have survived and this model is fitted with the very desirable 4 seater tourer body with an excellent hood and side screens. With the weather equipment in place the car is as water tight and cosy as a saloon.
The 18/80 is a very capable car on the road with a 2468cc Six Cylinder OHC twin SU engine. The smooth and quiet ride means it can cruise all day at 60mph making it an ideal long distance touring car. WL 7196 has been owned for the last 23 years by the fourth owner from new and has visited 11 European countries.
It was restored in 1983 and remains in beautiful condition and is maintained by its engineer owner. It has been developed for reliability and is a delight to drive under any conditions.
The full history of the car is known from 1929 and there are numerous logs and files detailing all the maintenance work carried out by the previous owner and the current owner. The logs include details of all the continental trips that the car has completed.
