A truly unique Austin Healey 100-6 BN4
This altogether unique Austin Healey 100-6 BN4 was originally delivered to Canada in 1959 and included the optional hardtop which is still with the vehicle today. It eventually finds its way to the United States of America, where it is transformed between 1977 and 1980 into the most extraordinary example (see pre-restoration pictures below). The American enthusiast owner, a Silversmith to trade, had the idea to restore the car but, at the same time display the quality of his work by hand crafting every engine nut and bolt in brass and sterling silver, using his own floral design. Extending his hand crafted work to the cars bumpers, front grill, side strips and boot-rack, the work is astonishing and surely unique. Not satisfied with the just the exterior, the cars’ interior is also transformed again, using an individual hand-crafted punched leather floral design which, granted, may not be to everyone’s taste, but the quality of work cannot be denied.
In 2015, following the passing of the American owner, the car is sold to a Swiss collector who, realising the cars unique specification and potential, invests further in the vehicle returning it to its original exterior white colour. Naturally, the car is subjected to a ‘frame off’ restoration to the highest standard where the provided pictures will speak for themselves. Particular attention was given to the unique interior with door panels, dash board and leather seats all hand punched crafted using a unique floral design. Combined with the highest quality alcantara leather, the result is quite astonishing. Out of respect for the previous owner’s wishes and overall quality of his work, the new Swiss custodian decided to retain the unusual air brush mural painted under the bonnet. Again, it’s not to everyone’s taste but, it is under the bonnet and out of sight and is certainly a conversation piece if nothing else.
This wonderful 1959 Austin Healey 100-6 BN4 (2+2) is surely a ‘one off’ in terms of specification and indeed opportunity. Hand crafted sterling silver and brass combined with an uncompromising frame-off restoration does not come cheap, therefore, the price will be requested on application from our most discerning customer base. The car is currently Swiss registered and resides there BUT, most importantly, all European duties have been paid and documented, so the car can be registered anywhere in Europe – without additional cost.
