1969 Challenger Jaguar Etype OTC For Sale

Here is my challenger jaguar ETYPE 4.2 OTS. The challenger car is a Jaguar approved copy of the series 1 OTS. This is the only copy Jaguar approved and they did this due to the the high quality of construction. It is a factory built car in 1988, The donor car was a 1969 series 1 xj Jaguar. The car had a genuine factory sealed full engine supplied by Jaguar at the time of construction. I purchased the car in 2010 and subsequently started a nut and bolt restoration. The gearbox was removed along with the differential assembly in its entirety, the brakes and suspension were removed, the fuel and ignition system the dash, the heating system, basically everything in the tub was removed. The bare tub was then sent to a professional body shop to be repainted in Jaguar Carmen red ( in cellulose). All brakes have been restored with new seals, pipework in copper all new discs pads and all new cables. New suspension coil springs fitted (fronts are adjustable coilovers) suspension joints replaced with sealed units. The interior was sent to professional trimmers for a full retrim in Conley cream leather with red piping. The Carpets are also custom made. All instruments have been refurbished and calibrated, Lights replaced with genuine Jaguar new ones. The car has a series 3 jaguar 5 speed gearbox, fully rebuilt with new bearings etc and a new clutch kit. The hood is new Mohair as is the hood cover A new set of stainless steel curly hub 6.5J wire wheels, the bumpers are hand made in Vietnam out of stainless steel, supplied by the Harrington group. Most of the chrome work is custom made from stainless steel, therefore will never rust and is a third of the weight of chrome. The upgrades I have made, are similar to the upgrades Eagle e-types undertake, ie uprated cooling system, 6.5J wheels, fluid power steering, 5 speed gearbox, uprated brakes and adjustable suspension. The steering column is adjustable, I also installed remote central locking and remote boot opening. The cooling is done by a Jaguar V12 radiator, with the addition of twin electric cooling fans operated automatically. The top and bottom hoses are custom made out of copper. The boot is upholstered in red and cream. The fuel tank is aluminium and a new fuel pump was fitted along with new fuel lines. The carburetors were replaced with fully refurbished twin 2” HS8 with manual chokes. In addition to the above I have fitted a new alternator, new starter motor, clutch slave cylinder. A new modern distributor ( because the old electronic ones are no longer available) which resulted in me having to have the rev counter internals rebuilt to a modern standard to read the new distributor. I had the car inspected by the Police and VOSA to get it correctly registered as a Challenger Jaguar e-type 4.2 OTS. It is MOT and road tax EXEMPT. The car is admired everywhere it goes, even filling it up gathers a crowd. I have entered this in shows and even the judges can not distinguish it from an original metal bodied etype I spent approximately 1000 hours rebuilding this car. I am a time served Jaguar mechanic who owns his own garage, I spent a ridiculous amount of money rebuilding this car to very very high level indeed. I have a detailed log of almost every item purchased with the date and cost. I can not think of anything that has NOT been done, it looks amazing, goes like stink, handles like a go cart and stops on a sixpence. Also, really lovely to drive sedately. I have restored several e-types and driven dozens and most rattle and run pooly, not this Challenger, it is very very quick, smooth and quiet. I am selling it because it does not get used enough, last year I personally did around 78 miles also I am retiring and moving soon. Total miles since Challenger built it in 1988 is only 18800 miles The condition of the car is amazing, as the photos show. The car lives in an air chamber, inside a garage. Tons of history including copy of original purchase receipt of £14500 in 1988, that was the price of a house. The car can be seen anytime I will put it up on a ramp for inspection Save £100000.00+ on a metal bodied one, this car has been shown at the NEC and people do not know the difference. Thank you for looking. £38500.00 ono For more info Telephone Andy 07961026360 [email protected]
