This car is bodied in an attractive 2+2 touring style by Abbey Coachworks. It is believed to be one of only 5 built by Abbey in this way and certainly one of the prettiest Hornet Specials in our eyes.
The 1.3 litre cross-flow Wolseley 6 cylinder engine with overhead cam was advanced for the pre-war period. Fitted with the twin SU carburettor setup gives a spritely free-revving engine. Not to mention the soundtrack that only a straight six cylinder makes. The 4 speed manual gearbox and hydraulic brakes also give the car a contemporary feel for the period.
The blue body / black wings wear a nice patina and the car has been regularly serviced with a large file for work done including a comprehensive engine rebuild in 2015. Overall this Hornet Special is a very well maintained and great driving example. Absolutely on the button and ready to be enjoyed.
We have available for sale (on behalf of my uncle) his magnificent 1933 Wolseley Hornet Daytona Sports. Built by Eustace and Watkins. Original engine, with beautiful smooth gearbox. Presented in Racing.....
