The 2+2 E Type Coupe we have for sale is one of only 2,116 RH drive cars made by Jaguar. It is first registered in 1972 and finished in silver with a black leather interior and manual gearbox. The current owner bought the car when it was just 3 years old from Smith & Matthews Garage in Penzance, with 28,000 miles on the clock. Since then apart from one road trip to Newcastle it has spent its life in Cornwall with the same owner and has a current genuine mileage of just 72,381 miles.
Throughout its life the car has been garaged and well maintained, there is a nearly full set of MOTs and a good history which comes with the car. In 2000 the car was stripped to bare metal and repainted as part of a restoration which included the replacement of the sills, wing panels, nearside and offside rear corner and central arches. In 2006 the gearbox and clutch underwent restoration. More recently in the past year the car has had a new fuel pump, brake and clutch master cylinder, all cooling hoses and the thermostat replaced, a full service, new door handles, new track rod end gators and all shock absorber bushes replaced.
Whilst the car has only covered around 4,000 miles since 1986 the current owner has taken great trouble to ensure the car be maintained and kept roadworthy. It has been kept in a heated garage at his house, with a cover for protection and regularly started and moved.
This EType is mechanically very sound, the bodywork looks good, and the interior is original but is starting to show its age, and in need of a bit of restoration. With a genuine mileage of just 72,381 and two owners from new this car whilst not concours is in great condition for its age and represents a sound investment for someone wanting to buy a good, genuine E-Type V12 with the potential to improve its condition further.
