Le Zèbre - delightful French Cyclecar 1919 For Sale
Reluctant sale of a very pretty French cyclecar which has had many thousands spent on a major engine rebuild along with a complete gearbox overhaul with new bearings throughout. Sitting on delicate wire wheels with beaded edge tyres it really does look very charming.
Le Zèbre has a very good pedigree as the designer was Jules Salomon who was then approached by André Citroën to design the ubiquitous and successful Cloverleaf Citroën. He was also involved in designing the first Amilcars.
This car is in a very agreeable condition, having been restored many years ago and has now acquired a lived in appearance which means it can be used with impunity. It has a VSCC buff form so is eligible for all sorts of Light car fun and frolics. There are a few small jobs to still be finished, such as revising the rudimentary wiring to include the dynamo and lights. However it can be used, as is, for daylight travel because it runs on a rebuilt Bosch magneto. It will start unfailingly on the handle with minimal effort.
I am trying to rationalise my car collection, so this little animal has to go....
