Time for the reluctant sale of this much loved car. As you can see, it's no showpiece, but rather a workhorse. In fact for several years she was my everyday car for travelling all over the country. Smooth, reliable engine, good steering and excellent brakes make her a pleasure to drive.
Quite tatty inside and out (or patinated if you prefer!), the worst of the bodywork is the bottom of the rear doors as shown - but it's all cosmetic. Structurally she's absolutely solid.
Happy to cruise at or above the speed limit all day, our last long trip was
London to Edinburgh and back last August.
Apart from the general scruffiness there are various other shortcomings; the speedometer has ceased working (I believe service exchange units can be had), and like lots of these, she jumps out of 3rd on the overrun. Many people replace the box with a modern 5 spd or one from the Arrow series of Rootes-mobiles but I've kept this one original.
Now I use a much more economical car everyday and the Sunbeam suffers from underuse - as well as being too long for my current lock-up.
She deserves a good home. Like any old car she needs maintaining and requires more knowledge than a modern.
By way of demonstrating her dependability,if you require delivery I'm happy to drive her to her new home for the price of the petrol and the train fare home!
This Sunbeam Sport has spent over 30 years in a small garage. Sadly the roof leaked for the last few and the body has suffered accordingly. The car is complete in almost every detail from engine to interior and trim. The body shell, however, is toast, unless you have a supply of panels and are particularly .....
