Morris Leslie Vehicle Auctions are pleased to announce this lot will be offered for sale in our forth coming auction of classic vehicles on Saturday 25th May at our Perthshire auction centre, over 200 expected entries. Please visit - details above for full pictured catalogue.

Estimate: £3,000 - £5,000.

Chassis number UAJS1/1630 - initially announced on August 23rd 1957 as the replacement for the flagship Pathfinder the Two Point Six was identifiable from its predecessor by its fixed grille lack of horizontal front chrome, raised edge wheel arches, its straight 6 now BMC "C" Series engine and retaining the almost unique right hand gear lever. The Two Point Six was to be a commercial failure and was withdrawn from the market during April 1959 after only 2000 examples where produced, regarded by many as the last large Riley and now one of the marques rarest models. On January 15th 1958 "Motor Sport" magazine undertook a 600 mile road test on a Two Point Six stating "it is a well appointed car which is notable for powerful brakes, excellent lamps and a gear change as pleasing as it is unusual" and "the Riley Two-Point-Six apes far more expensive vehicles in quiet and swift progression and cannot be considered an expensive car at an all in price of just over £1,400 inclusive of P.T.". This particular example was first registered in the Elgin area and we are informed by the vendor that he believes that the car was last used during the mid 1970's. We have had the car started, running and driving albeit the brakes require some attention. The car is now in need of a degree of restoration, but with what does appear to be excellent leather upholstery and wood. Due to the length of time this example has been off the road the registration number shown is no longer current with DVLA and there is no paperwork with the vehicle. Our date of registration shown is approximate and based on the registration number "ESO" issue allocation period.
