Ashton Chevy, Opel, Buick in Provo, Utah on April 19, 1971 and sold to its original owner on April 30, 1971, who was from Orem, Utah and who had put down a $100 deposit on March 26, 1971. - He owned this truck for 47 years, you can tell by how well it presents itself today that this truck was his true pride and joy! - Dressed in factory correct White over Dark Olive (code 564) and resprayed professionally in 2009, the truck’s paint and body side trim are in impeccable condition. - Its windows are clear and intact, all of its lights look great and are haze-free and it has a straight and solid body. - The engine bay is extremely tidy, the battery looks newer and the chrome bumpers are in brilliant order, including the front overriders. The cargo bed is in very good order and the white bed cap has a section that opens at the rear, grab bars and a center high-mounted brake light. - This truck rolls on Michelin XC LT4 tires, size LT235/85R16 at all four corners. -The rubber is in very good order and each tire surrounds on a very desirable and hard to find period correct Western Wheel vented wheels with a center cap that are all in very good order. - Under the hood is the rebuilt, numbers matching LS9 350 CID V-8 engine with a four-barrel carburetor that was fully rebuilt in 1993 and upgraded to push 349HP! This truck truly moves! It has orange valve covers, a blue distributor and breathes via a K&N air cleaner and dual exhausts that were newly installed in 2017. - Two years later in 1995, the transmission was upgraded to a 700R4 four-speed automatic transmission. Driver convenience features include power steering and power brakes with factory front discs (the master cylinder and brakes booster were upgraded in 2006). Other upgrades include u-joints and carrier bearing revamped in 2006. - Recent engine services include an oil and filter change on August 21, 2017 at 70,832 miles; a new intake and exhaust gaskets installed on September 24, 2017 at 71,059 miles followed by new oil because of the intake on September 30, 2017 at 71,069 miles. - Inside, the olive vinyl interior (code 531) with its neutral inserts is in fantastic shape. - The bench seat, carpet, headliner, three-spoke steering wheel and rarely-seen tilt steering column, inner door panels, dashboard and gear shift are all in excellent order. - Even the dome light still works! Completing the interior is a factory AM radio. The instrument panel offers a full array of gauges, including a tachometer, another rarity on a 1971 truck but this truck was custom ordered just right! - Numerous changes occurred in 1971. First, came another new grille design (the “egg crate”) for Chevrolet trucks. Second, an additional trim package was introduced: the Cheyenne. These packages consisted mostly of comfort features — nicer interiors, more padding and insulation, carpet, chrome trim and upper and lower side molding and tailgate trim. Nineteen seventy-one was the first year for AM/FM radios factory installed. Finally, the front brakes on all light-duty trucks were switched from drum brakes to disc brakes, resulting in much less brake fade under heavy use. - Documentation includes original owner’s manual; original Protect-O-Plate; original warranty paperwork; 1971-era bank checks from original owner that paid for the down payment, truck and its first insurance coverage; original build sheet; original dealer invoice; original Chevy Truck Chassis Service Manual for 10-30 Series; copy of original Chevy power train, axle, suspension and transmission guide; original typed thank-you letter dated May 4, 1971 on dealer letterhead to original owner from dealership president; hand-written letter from original owner to second owner; various maintenance and service receipts and invoices and more.
