I have undertaken a comprehensive refurbishment of this bike which has included :-
Powder coated frame, swing arm, headlight, fork yolks, centre and side stands, air box, engine plates, battery carrier and chain guard.
Re-chromed exhaust pipes, kickstart, suspension springs and shrouds.
Rebuilt wheels with the original alloy rims and new stainless steel spokes and nipples.
The petrol tank and front mudguard are NOS Yamaha items.
New petrol taps. Recent fork oil seals, chain and sprockets. New Motobatt battery and rear brake light switch. Recovered seat. New mirrors. New EBC organic front brake pads and refurbished master cylinder rubbers. New Avon Roadrider tyres and tubes.
In short this bike is ready to ride and enjoy. It has been reclassified as Historic Vehicle class in the V5 registration document and accordingly the annual road fund licence fee is Zero and no annual MOT is required. With classic insurance costs being very low this bike will be very economical to run and will also be exempt from the London ULEZ daily charge so commuting into London is a realistic option. It has electric start as well!
I bought this recently as I’d always liked the looks of them. If you know anything about these bikes the later models had a modified frame and swing arm to improve the handling and a disc brake for fade free braking. This was the result of Yamaha UK receiving feedback from the Triumph factory tester and road racer, Percy Tait.
The mileage on the clock is a little over 10,000 miles and whilst I can’t vouch for this, the general condition of the brake discs, pads, inlet and exhaust ports leads me to believe that mileage is accurate. The engine runs as sweet as a nut and pulls well. All the indicators and electrics work as they should. In short a very tidy and useable classic.
I’m only selling to make space for my next project so call me on the details below to view. You’ll not be disappointed.
