FOR SALE very rare 3.6 manual 1983 XJS in blue For Sale

FOR SALE very rare 3.6 manual 1983 XJS in blue. Priced for a quick sale due to adulthood and that she deserves to be driven more. So here we are. This car has been a huge part of my life for over 8 years, but it’s time to let her move on to someone new. I will be very sad to see her go. Nothing will ever put a smile on my face in quite the same way again. This car is beautiful on the road and gets appreciation from everyone - cabbies, tourists, little boys, racy women etc. (I once watched a young lady walk into a lamp post while smiling at the car…) She is one of only two of the kind in the UK. Literally. Last time I checked there are only two 3.6 manuals still on the road from 1983. And probably no other XJS in this particular blue! A very rare combination. She’s in overall good to fair condition I’d say. Looks great, sounds great, starts first time every time and has never broken down on me. There are a handful of minor things I’ve never got round to fixing (trip computer, heated rear screen) but anything that might affect her ability to get me from A to B with a smile on my face has never been a problem. As my mechanic said “she’s never needed any big mechanical work” The need to knows: Engine is in great condition with a lovely exhaust note. No signs of it giving out. Never overheats and idles at a steady 800ish Handling and ride are good, for a nearly 40 year old car it’s remarkable Still very fast Tyres have only done about 1000 miles Serviced every year while I’ve owned her by Ray at Surrey Jag Centre 98k miles on the clock (odometer failed a couple of years ago so more like 99k now) Mechanically sound Bluetooth CD stereo with electric aerial Electric windows and mirrors Spare wheel and tyre in good condition Respray by previous owner to a stunning obsidian blue - I believe it’s not a standard Jag colour and has always drawn compliments Standard XJS electrical gremlins (rear windscreen, air con) Cavity wax sealed by KWE in Thatcham MOT pass in Oct with a handful of advisories (- emissions, needs some welding to the main chassis rail, this wasn’t an MOT fail but will need to be looked at in a few years time) Body work is in great condition for a car of this age Lattice alloys also in great nick Interior is clean and tidy - some wear on drivers side leather seat piping and weirdly on the back seat(!?), roof lining doesn’t sag, switchgear all works I’ve 8 years worth of receipts, very few of which have been mechanical - new radiator system, refurbished gearbox, new clutch slave cylinder and not much else. Lots of work done around minor niggles eg new wiper motor, dash electrics, heating matrix, leaks, sticky windows. This is a classic car. This is a classic British car. Which means not everything works as well as it did when new. It has all of the standard XJS character, which means it also has foibles. With a bit of TLC you’ll have yourself a wonderful car that’s going to give you years of enjoyment. With a bit of time and effort you’ll find yourself in a lifetime relationship with a national treasure. These cars sell for £20-£30k when in mint condition, and this one will make you a great project. Alternatively, if you simply want a weekend (or even daily) drive to put a smile on your face and you can afford the thirsty engine and annual maintenance, then this is ideal. Get in touch if you'd like to see her for yourself. Bring evidence of insurance and we can take her for a test drive. Whoever buys this car will need to promise to look after her!
