This MGB GT is an excellent example that was restored to a very high standard in 1990 and is still in remarkable condition today.
It looks superb in Green with its black leather seats piped in white and is fitted with a Moto-Lita leather steering wheel, wire wheels, oil cooler, alloy bonnet and a rear shock absorber conversion.
The manual gearbox has overdrive on third and fourth which is operated using the dash mounted overdrive switch or by using the aftermarket Tiptro buttons fitted just below the dash which has the advantage of automatically disengaging the overdrive when changing down.
It has only had two owners for the last 30 years since 1989.
The owner who acquired the car in 1989 carried out a full restoration which was recorded in a long series of photographs which can be found in the history file.
The last owner bought the car in 1998 and has over the last 21 years has maintained and improved the car with no regard to cost. It is now for sale only due to lack of use through ill health.
The current MOT runs until November 2019 although it is now MOT exempt and the car will be licensed for twelve months from the date of sale for the new owner at no cost as the car qualifies for the Historic Taxation class. The current recorded mileage is 63275.
The history file contains the current V5, the current MOT certificate, a couple of previous V5s, 28 previous MOT certificates dating back to 1987 showing the low annual increase in mileage, an album containing the dozens of photographs of the complete restoration as it progressed and a detailed description of work completed by the last owner over the past 21 years along with dozens of invoices.
The headline of the 2nd July 2014 edition of Classic Car Weekly reported that there was an acute shortage of good MGBs and their values will continue to rise as buyers realise what good value these cars are compared to other classic British sports cars. This is now proving to be correct.
Classic sports motoring and likely to be an excellent investment.
