Land Rover Series 2 SWB Hardtop Petrol 4 cylinder 1960
Low mileage: 36,000m. In very original condition. 2 previous owners, both of whom were located in Bridgwater, Somerset. The first owner had it from 1960 to 1983, when the second owner purchased it. I acquired it from them in 2013 and have stored it in a dry barn every since.
Early example with details such as Bakelite round handles to open vents, which open fully to horizontal and early type exhaust manifold.
Very original condition and has not been messed about with. Correct Bronze green paintwork appears to be the original in the most, however, the previous owner has clearly polished it so often that the paint has worn away in places, as you can see from the photographs. Original ‘elephant hide’ seats and rear canvas hood.
The chassis is very good with only some localised rust to the outside parts of the rear cross member however, it does not require a rear cross member. I have a new rear corner section to fit and could fit this if required before it goes. No outriggers have ever been replaced, nor need to be and the chassis has never been patched.
It drives extremely well and is tight without any slack, as you would expect from a 32,000m vehicle.
MOT exempt. I have fitted a new brake master cylinder, clutch master & slave cylinders, new rear exhaust silencer and rear shock absorbers.
There cannot be many original Land Rovers with such low mileage and that drive so much like a new one. I have thought long and hard about selling this as I know I will never be able to replace it again. A pending house move without the benefit of barns means we must sadly find homes for our much loved items collected over the years.
Cleared payment will be required prior to it leaving here. It is stored a secure building at a private property with locked gates. Located near Sherborne in North Dorset. If you have any questions, please call me on 07970 987995 or email: [email protected]
