For sale is my 1995 Mercedes-Benz E220 Cabriolet.
First registered on 30th January 1995, I bought it in September 2011 from Mercedes specialist 'Classic Cars Manchester' when it had covered 104,000 miles. It was originally bought as my wife's daily car but after a couple of months I realised it was far too nice to use through the winter so she ended up with a Mercedes 124 estate and since then the cabriolet has been used for local shows and MB club events and always kept garaged.
Finished in Tourmaline green with mushroom interior, the car has had 4 previous owners and comes with a good service history. It has now covered 114,540 miles and there are 18 stamps in the original service book, a mix of MB main dealer and MB independent specialists. During my ownership the car has been serviced every 2 years by my local MB independent, the last was at 113,034 in May 2017. Spec includes electric windows, heated seats, air conditioning and a nice Sony 'face off' radio/CD player.
Compared to other classics I own, this has been a very easy car to live with, a starting issue early in my ownership was cured by replacing the OVP and fuel pump relays and the only other parts which have required replacement are rear pads, steering damper, a propshaft coupling and battery, the latter was replaced in September 2016 so is still under guarantee.
The car presents exceptionally well and is in very sound condition, I had owned several 124's before I bought this one so knew what to look for. This one is sound in all the usual problem areas and is very clean underneath. The original 8 hole alloys are in good condition as are the tyres. As soon as I bought it I took out the jacking point covers in the sills and sprayed waxoil into and around them. There is a tiny amount of bubbling around the radio aerial and very slight spidering in the paint on the lower edges of the front wings but that's about it.
There are a couple of things that a new owner may want to improve. The hood is the original, it goes up and down, looks ok and is waterproof but there is a tiny split in each side on the C pillar and I'll include a photo of this. There is also a small oil leak from the front of the engine although I've never had to top up the oil.
The only reason for selling is it just doesn't get used enough anymore. It's done 800 miles since the last MOT and most of that was on a weekend away to the MB Club 124 day in Yorkshire last year, it ran perfectly through the whole trip as it always does.
The car has an MOT till May 20th 2020 and there are no advisories.
The prices of these seem to vary considerably but I'm being realistic and advertising it for what I paid in 2011, serious offers will be considered once you have seen the car. It comes with it's original bookpack in the MB leather wallet (with rare cabriolet supplement), several old bills, old MOT's dating back to 2005, some old tax discs (remember those?!) and 2 remote keys although only one is working.
Please call me if you would like to have a chat about the car or make an appointment to view, I am not able to check emails during the day. I know everyone says this but I will be genuinely sorry to see this car go!
