This beautiful 1986 Mercedes 107 Series 420SL was supplied new by Mercedes dealer Dickson Motors in Perth and was first registered on 1st August 1986.
It finished in the lovely Mercedes colour scheme of Mercedes Blue/Black Metallic with a Magnolia Leather interior, Magnolia carpets, Rear Child Seats with lap belts, Black Mohair Soft Top, Factory Hard Top in Blue/Black, 4.2 Litre V8 Engine, 4 Speed Automatic Transmission with Sport/Economy modes, Power Steering, ABS Brakes, Electric Windows, Alpine Stereo/CD Player, Remote Central Locking/Alarm and Mercedes Alloy Wheels.
The previous owner purchased the car in June 2004 and in early 2017 he commissioned N K Bodyworks in Bobbing, Kent to carry out a full body restoration of the car which was finally finished just before Christmas in 2017.
The restoration included many new parts and panels including new front wings and a high quality repaint of the car. There are photographs in the file of this restoration including lots of invoices for all parts obtained from Mercedes and in total £12,700 was spent on this restoration! It also has no 'bulkhead' corrosion issues which some of these models suffered from!
Last year it had new valve stem oil seals, a new timing chain, chain tensioner, chain guide and camshaft gears all fitted by Mercedes specialist Colin Ferns in Richmond, Surrey, costing £1,700, 4 new Pirelli Cinturato tyres and just recently Colin Ferns has replaced a Cam Shaft and rockers for a further £1,200.
The car comes with its original Handbook pack including a fully stamped Maintenance Booklet, a huge history file including invoices and MOT certificates dating back to the mid 1990's and all invoices for the recent restoration and mechanical works.
It has now covered a genuine 114,000 miles from new, nothing on one of these V8 engines, and it is clear on all HPi registers.
Upon sale the car will come with our own customer care package including a pre-sales service/checkover, a new MOT and it will come with our own 6 Month Mechanical Warranty which can be extended and upgraded at additional cost if required.
This car really is in exceptional condition throughout and is mechanically first class and drives beautifully. It is also in arguably one of the best and most desirable colour combinations for a 107 Series Mercedes Sports.
