This is a 1978 MGB roadster in metallic red. The car was subject to a mechanical restoration approximately 10 years ago which included upgrading to an Ivor Searle reconditioned engine. The clutch was replaced at the same time, along with the overdrive solenoid, as were the main radiator and the heater matrix. The car has done less than 20 miles since that time after which it was put into storage. Now out of storage, many other parts have been replaced to bring the car up to an excellent mechanical specification. The car has also benefited from a new offside sill, castle rail, and replacement front wing which have recently been fitted and sprayed by a well-known, major MG restorer. The car has also been fitted with a new alloy rocker cover and new pancake air filters. Oil pressure is excellent as would be expected. Recorded mileage is 19,277 miles. The tyres appear to have very little wear. The hood, with red piping has the benefit of a zip-open rear window. If you add up the total amount spent on this car just before it went into storage and the amount spent during the recent recommissioning process after the car has come out of storage it adds up to nearly £6,500!
There are a few minor blemishes on the paintwork. Underneath the car is in very good order. The car starts on the button and runs well and cleanly and goes through the gears without issue. The engine bay is nicely detailed as you will see from the pictures and the car generally presents very well. The history file contains miscellaneous invoices relating to work done over the years.
Overall this is a nicely presented car that represents excellent value for money in our view given the values that rubber bumper cars are now commanding. The car will be sold with a new MOT.
